COPAN and Spokane launch official website of Pan-American Games

The Organizing Committee of the XIV Pan American Games (COPAN) and Spokane, S.A. performed yesterday the launching of the official website which will serve as link and information source of the continental athletic event to be held here from August 1 to 17. 

The speech in the opening ceremony, held in the studios of Spokane Media Group, was given by Jose Joaquin Puello, president of the COPAN and the Dominican Olympic Committee, who gave a brief explanation about the official site of the Games and its importance at an international level. Doctor Puello said that yesterday was a very special day for the Pan American Games with the launching of its modern website, a site of information, promotion and advertising for all those looking for an up-to-date information about the event, about the Dominican people, among others. 

He stated that though Games will end in August, they will remain the memories of many people as an evidence of what we Dominicans are capable of thanks to the work of Spokane, which in the long term or in the short term will translate into benefits for the country in different aspects. 

He added that the when entering the official website, visitors will be able to access not only up-to-date information about the Games, but also information about our beaches, our people, our hospitality, the local museums, the Colonial Zone, among others. 

“This goes along with other things we have been making, for example, Canada´s CBC, through which several millions of persons will see the television broadcast, is in the country; and also in the country is the Spanish company SML, a state-of –the-start technology company that will participate in the Games” 

Doctor Puello assured that the XIV Pan American Games will be technologically superior to any other Games ever celebrated. 

Mr. Rafael Bonelly Ricart, president of Spokane, expressed his gratitude to the COPAN for the trust given to his company and thanked the journalists for their attendance to the event. 

Website The website, www.santodomingo2003.com was developed by Spokane, the official interactive agency, an international projection enterprise offering its clients a wide variety of technology and content-based marketing strategies to establish a direct communication with the clients. 

The official site includes three main sections: Organization, Competition and Santo Domingo, which comprise all the information about the Pan American Games. 

The Organization section includes the official content such as history, logo, mascot and the government, among other topics. 

Santo Domingo is the tourist part of the site. It aims to offer the most complete guide to get to know the city and the countryside of the Dominican Republic. 

Lowell Fernandez, Business Director, Francisco Elias, Vice-President of Grupo Market and other authorities of the COPAN, as well as the executives of Spokane, clients and other people related to the event were also present.
