Fifty Chefs to be Hired for Pan-Am 2003
The company Alimentos Industriales Salvadoreños, S.A. (ALISAL), which will be in charge of the food services during the XIV Pan American Games, will hire 50 chefs, 60 chef assistants and specialized personnel in different types of food.
The Human Resources Manager of ALISAL, Licenciada Agueda Herrera, gave the information yesterday. She said that the company is recruiting personnel process for the different areas that will operate in Pan-Am 2003, event for which they will hire 800 persons. For such purposes, 1350 persons have already been pre-selected.
The officer of the ALISAL invited the people interested in the positions to visit the offices of the company, located in Plaza AMER, in the prolongation of Bolivar Street No. 105, where they will be interviewed. The job interviews will take place up to June 30 of 2003.
She explained the requirements for those seeking a job position in the Santo Domingo 2003 Games include bringing a photo, a copy of their personal IDs and filling the job application form that ALISAL will offer them.
Herrera explained that for the Santo Domingo 2003 Games, the enterprise she represents would hire 12 executive chefs and eight sub-chefs. She also indicated that they would hire 130 persons for hot food, 80 for cold food, 40 bartenders and 22 waiters.
For the cleaning area, 200 persons will be needed. To work in the warehouse, 22 persons will be required and 25 aid-de-camps. Three operation managers, one quality control manager, three service managers and one logistic manager will be required as well.
She explained that 95 percent of the personnel to be employed in the Santo Domingo 2003 Games would be of Dominican origin and another five percent would be foreigners.
She declared that the company has already contacted the universities APEC, O&M, Catolica de Santo Domingo and PUCMM to recruit students, mainly from the Hotel Management and Tourism careers.
ALISAL was selected through a bidding to offer the food services during the XIV Pan American Games, which will be held here from August 1 to 17.
The Salvadoran company was in charge of the food services in the XIX Central American and Caribbean Games, held in San Salvador, El Salvador, from November to December of last year.
More than 5000 athletes from the 42 countries members of the Pan American Sports Organization (PASO) will compete in the 35 sports included in the event.
