Puello remarks election of Pinedo in COPAMEDE

Doctor Jose Joaquin Puello, president of the Dominican Olympic Committee remarked the election of Dr. Milton Pinedo as vice-president of the Pan American Confederation of Sports Medicine was a great honor for the country.

Puello considered the election of Pinedo as an acknowledgement to his qualifications and devotion to sport. 

“Milton is a sportsman through and through, who has been to each and every stage in sports: as an athlete, a coach and authority he has performed a great job every time” pointed out Puello. “Also, he is an outstanding professional at sports medicine and I therefore believe his election to be most fair.” 

Pinedo, who is president of the Dominican Federation of Sports Medicine, was elected vice-president of COPAMEDE a few days ago while the XIV Pan American Games Sports Medicine Congress was being held. Puerto Rican Dr. Walter Frontera was reelected president of that important sports association, likewise unanimously.

The countries whose representatives voted were: the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Colombia, Panama, Chile, Uruguay, Argentina, Ecuador, the United States, Mexico, Canada, Barbados, Bahamas, Jamaica, Virgin Islands, St. Lucia, Antigua, Saint Kitts and the Netherlands Antilles. Pinedo is co-secretary of the Executive Committee of the Dominican Olympic Committee, president of the Medical Committee of the Centro American and Caribbean Sports Organization (ODECABE), Medical Director of the Organizing Committee of the XIV Pan American (COPAN). Dr. Puello is also president of these last two organizations. 
As Medical Director of COPAN, Pinedo’s job has been praised both by the president of the Medical Committee of the Panamerican Sports Organization (PASO), doctor Eduardo de Rose and by doctor Frontera, as well as by the chief representatives of the 42 countries that are members of PASO and will be competing in the Santo Domingo 2003 Games from August 1 through 17.
